Christian Voigt Tenor
Christian Voigt studied singing in his home town Berlin with Heinz Reeh and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. In 1995 he was prize winner of the 6th International Mozart-Competition Salzburg. After graduating he continued his studies with Peter Schreier, Josef Protschka, Kurt Equiluz, Wolfram Rieger and René Kollo. Christian Voigt was scholarship holder of "Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes".
He appeared in several european countries like Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Estonia, Hungaria under important orchestras like Chamber Orchestra of Europe, La Chapelle Royale/Orchestre des Champs-Elysees, Staatskapelle Berlin, Bach-Collegium Stuttgart, Danish Radio Orchestra.
He worked together with famous conductors like Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Helmuth Rilling, Philippe Herreweghe, Gerd Albrecht, Dietfried Bernet, Will Humburg, Michael Schoenwandt.
Christian Voigt is also a frequent guest at the music festivals Styriarte Graz, Richard-Strauss-Festspiele Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bad Hersfelder Opernfestspiele, Wiener Festwochen, Dresdner Musikfestspiele, Schwetzinger Festspiele, Schubertiade Feldkirch.
In the 2003-04 season he appeared first time at Staatsoper Hannover and Oper Frankfurt. In the summer 2005 he sung Erik|Der fliegende Holländer at the Izmir Opera House and in the Arena of Aspendos. Further roles of his repertoire were since then for example: Bacchus|Ariadne auf Naxos, Max|Der Freischütz, Lenski|Eugen Onegin, Siegmund|Die Walküre, Florestan|Fidelio, Duca|Rigoletto, Cavaradossi|Tosca.
In the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons Voigt appeared as Erik, Eisenstein|Die Fledermaus, Max and Bacchus at the Tiroler Landestheater, Innsbruck. In January 2007 he made his debut in Italy with Erik at Teatro Verdi in Triest. Furthermore he sang Max at the Festspielhaus Bregenz directed by Dietfried Bernet, and was engaged by the Prague State Opera for Erik in 2008. In 2010 Voigt made his house debut as solist of Mendelssohn's "Lobgesang" at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari.
In December 2008 Voigt joined the ensemble of the Freiburg Opera where he debuted in 2009 with great success as Siegmund|Die Walküre. Since then he performed many important roles, such as both Siegfrieds|Siegfried & Götterdämmerung in the complete staging of "The Ring of the Nibelung", Orpheus|Orpheus in the Underworld, Witch|Hänsel und Gretel, Cavaradossi, Paco|La Vida Breve with Calixto Bieito as stage director, Narraboth|Salome, and Oberon. In the magazine "Opernwelt", he was nominated as best new singer of 2010. In 2011-12 season projects in Freiburg included again Siegfried in the Ring Cycle, as well as Lohengrin.
Further engagements in 2011 included Siegmund|Die Walküre in Oldenbourg. In March 2011 he convinced jumping in last minute with Siegfried|Siegfried at the Opéra de Bastille in Paris. Voigt perfomed as Siegfried at the State Operas Hanover as well as in a new production at the State Opera Darmstadt. In June 2012 Christian Voigt gave his debut in Wiesbaden when jumping in as Lohengrin.
In 2012-13 season, he sang Lohengrin in Freiburg and gave his debut as Parsifal there. After this he returned to Darmstadt as Siegfried.
Further plans include for example engagements as Tristan|Tristan and Isolde at Oldenbourg's State Opera and as Edwin|Die Czárdásfürstin at Freiburg, where he will give his debut as Tannhäuser in 2014.
Beside his engagements as an opera singer at several opera houses in Europe he appears as a concert and recital singer. Numerous broadcasting- and disk-recordings are documents of his high artistic standard.
