Hui He Soprano
Hui He was born in Xian, China. With great success she won several international vocal competitions, including such important as the Operalia Placido Domingo 2000 in Los Angeles and the Concorso Voci Verdiane 2002.
Her brilliant debut as opera singer she made in China when covering Aida at the occasion of a performance of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Shanghai. There she performed again 1999 with Santuzza|Cavalleria Rusticana and 2000 with Aida.
After her great success at the Concorso Voci Verdiane, Hui He continued her dazzling career in Europe: She sang for the first time Tosca at the Teatro Regio di Parma directed by Raina Kabaivanska, thereafter she sang Alzira at the Festival Verdi also in Parma, Aida in Lucca, Rome and Catanzaro, Amelia|Un Ballo in maschera in Verona and Bolzano and finally Tosca at the Teatro Regio di Torino.
In February 2003 Hui He debuted at the Opéra de Bordeaux in Butterfly. She earned a great success allowing her to sing there again in 2004 in a Verdi concert, in 2005 in the role of Tosca and in 2006 in that of Aida. Her debuts at Verona as Liù|Turandot and at the Festival Puccini in Torre del Lago in the role of Butterfly are other important milestones in her career in 2003.
In 2004 she sang Lina|Stiffelio at the Staatsoper of Vienna with Renato Bruson and José Cura (M° Marco Armiliato), thereafter the opera director Ioan Hollender hired her for three additional productions (Madama Butterfly, Aida and Un Ballo in maschera).
In 2005 she performed Tosca at the opera of Bordeaux, Manon Lescaut in Toulon, Cio-cio-san|Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Regio di Parma and at the Volksoper of Vienna, Liù in Verona; Odabella|Attila at Busseto with the Foundation Arturo Toscanini and finally Tosca at Badisches Stadttheater of Karlsruhe.
In 2006 Hui He sang Cio-cio-san at the Opera Bastille of Paris and Aida at the Opéra de Bordeaux. She made her debuts at the Scala of Milan in the role of Tosca (M° Lorin Maazel). She also sang Tosca in Verona in a new production by Hugo de Ana (M° Daniel Oren) and Amelia at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo.
In the autumn 2006 Hui He sang Cio-cio-san in Hong Kong during the first season 2006/07 of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Hong Kong. She went on with Cio-cio-san at the Staatsoper of Vienna and at the Scala of Milan. Her debuts at the Teatro Verdi di Trieste she made in 2007 with Manon Lescaut under M° Daniel Oren. During the season 2007 she sang for example Aida in Verona, at the Festival d'Avenches and at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. With Liù she debuted at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
For her debuts at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, she sang Tosca in 2008; she was Aida at the Staatsoper of Vienna, Manon Lescaut at the opera of Leipzig (M° Riccardo Chailly) and sang Liù for the first time at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London.
In 2009 Hui He sang, among others, Lina at Staatsoper of Vienna; Tosca at New Israeli Opera Tel Aviv (M° Daniel Oren), in Wiesbaden, at Hamburgische Staatsoper and at Vokalfestival Dortmund; Cio-cio-san for the first time at Deutsche Oper Berlin; Aida at the season opening of Rome Opera and enthused the audiance of Genua as Maddalena|Andrea Chénier. Furthermore she debuted as Ariadne|Ariadne auf Naxos in Athens at the Greek National Opera.
In 2010 Hui He made her debut as Aida at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and at Palau de les Arts in Valencia, and sang the same role as well in Salerno, Munich, Verona, Cologne, Masada, Florence, Rome and Chicago. With the Chinese opera Dr. Sun Yat-sen she was to be seen in Beijing and Hong Kong in the fall of 2011. As Cio-cio-san she performed at Staatsoper Berlin, in Toulouse, Vienna, Athens, Munich, Verona, Turin and Genoa; as Amelia in Salerno and London; and as Tosca at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, in Frankfurt and Florence.
Iin summer 2012, Hui He again sang Aida at Arena di Verona. At the State Operas of Vienna, Munich and Berlin and as well in Copenhagen, she recently performed as Cio-cio-san. Future plans include engagements in the same role for example at the Metropolitan Opera New York and in Barcelona, and as Aida at Milan's La Scala and at Arena di Verona. As Gioconda she gave her debut in Salerno and she will return in the same role to Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2015.
