Rubens Pelizzari Tenor
The Italian tenor Rubens Pelizzari belongs to the new generation of emerging artists. He studied singing e.g. with the renowned mezzo-soprano Adriana Lazzarini and won numerous international competitions, including 2001 the International Vocal Competition of San Remo, where he was also awarded the audience prize and the prize for singing Verdi.
In 2000 Pelizzari debuted as Ismaele|Nabucco at the Teatro Verdi in Padova. Other debuts followed, for example as Macduff|Macbeth in Ravenna, Lucca and Rovigo, as well as Cavaradossi|Tosca in Ancona and Imperia.
Since then, Pelizzari has sung numerous roles in operas by Puccini, Verdi, Bizet and others in many prestigious opera houses. For example he sang Cavaradossi, Pinkerton|Madama Butterfly, Luigi|Il tabarro, Edgar and in La fanciulla del West in Bologna, Turin, Pisa, Modena, Piacenza, Livorno, in Tel Aviv under the baton of Daniel Oren, in Switzerland at the Opera Festival of Avenches and elsewhere.
Some of his most glamorous roles include Verdi's Radames|Aida, Alfredo Germont|La traviata, Alvaro|La forza del destino, Ernani, Messa di Requiem, Mancrico|Il trovatore, Macduff, Ismaele and Corrado|Il corsaro, which he performed for example in Genua, at the Bregenz Festival, in Savona, Rovigo, Triest, Macerata, Modena, Ancona, Piacenza, Ravenna, Ferrara, Palermo and Turin. As Don José|Carmen he enjoyed success, amongst others, in Athens, Piacenza, Lausanne, Tokyo and Modena, as Giasone|Medea in Catania and Palermo.
In 2011 Pelizzari performed Ismaele, together with Ambrogio Maestri, at Arena di Verona, Cavaradossi at the National Opera of Athens, Turiddu|Cavalleria rusticana and Canio|I Pagliacci in Catania, Canio in Genua, Don José in Athens, Cavaradossi in Palermo and Oronte|I Lombardi at St. Gallen Festival.
Pelizzari's future plans for 2011-12 season include engagements as Cavaradossi and as Calaf|Turandot at Staatstheater Wiesbaden, as Turiddu in Genoa, and as Canio in Verona.
Several CDs and DVDs have been released already, including recordings of Aida, Il Trittico and Macbeth.
